TIP: As well as the traditional stockbroking firms, a number of banks and building societies also have stockbroking arms. Most traditional stockbrokers belong to the Association of Private Client Investment Managers and Stockbrokers (0207 247 7080, (www.apcims.org/) which produces a directory listing its members.
