The sixth new building on Point Loma Nazarene College’s campus since 1985, the $13 million Nicholson Commons, officially opened on Nov. 21. PLNC named the new commons after Daryl and Vicki Nicholson of Porterville, who donated $1 million towards the construction.
Taking residence in the building’s 70,000-square feet are the offices of the Associated Student Body, Student Development and Spiritual Development, as well as a variety of food service, bookstore, express store, meeting rooms and social gathering places. The campus Wellness Center and radio station also moved to the facility, which will also host communications and building-management functions.
Many people and companies had a part of making the new facility a reality, including the PLNC Planning Committee; Ninteman Construction of San Diego, who performed the construction; and Bill Ferguson, the architect.
