At Community Lutheran in Oceanside, our mission is building committed followers of Jesus Christ. We believe there are two aspects to this mission. The first is building up and equipping people within the community of our congregation with the Word of God. To accomplish this mission, we rely on God¹s grace and Spirit to help us keep His Word at the center of our teaching, worship, and use of the sacraments (baptism and communion). Our great desire is that people would continually grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ through an ever-increasing knowledge of Him, His grace, and His ways as they follow Him.
The second aspect of our mission is laying a foundation to build upon in the life of people who are not yet Christ-followers. We do this by sharing the love of God and the good news of Jesus Christ with them. We seek to do this through various means – demonstrating God¹s love by serving others in practical ways like helping the Bread of Life and other agencies, supporting overseas missions, and looking for creative ways to meet the needs of people around us. The other is by training our members in different methods of evangelism.
