An easy-reading edition of the best-selling New International Version (NIV) has been completed on time by the International Bible Society (IBS), despite some last-minute changes related to gender-specific language.
According to Dr. Gene Rubingh, vice president for translations, the revised New International Reader’s Version (NIRV), now treats gender in exactly the same way as the NIV. IBS agreed to revise the NIRV earlier this year in response to a controversy over its planned “gender accurate” version.
