An open letter to the shepherds from their sheep:
We take this time to tell you that we do appreciate you, your work teaching the love of our Father God and His Son, Jesus Christ.
We appreciate your continuing guidance and your own personal concern for us. Usually, my column concerns a legislative update, but this month I write expressing frustrations that many Christians feel (both Catholic and Protestant) because you refuse to speak out on the moral issues confronting our society today.
GUEST COMMENT
The Bible, God’s Holy Word, tells us that God is a just God! God is a jealous God! This same God expressed His will regarding individuals and a nation’s way of life in His Holy Word-the Bible!
You touch briefly on the moral issues that are destroying our families and society today, but when you do, you seem to be more afraid to venture into the political arena – either because you have been indoctrinated that the church should not involve itself in politics, or you are afraid the I.R.S. and the state will revoke the church’s tax-exempt status.
You tell us that God is our redeemer and yet we wonder if you believe it, because there is no preaching or teaching about how a redeemed person applies the Bible to issues about being a responsible citizen, such as the issue concerning a “messianic” state at the expense of the first four of the Ten Commandments.
We need your bold leadership to equip the saints to stand against the forces of evil that have engulfed our nation and the world.
Can you visualize if the shepherds united together and told the President, Congress and the U.S. Supreme Court that they were violating the Biblical standards this nation was founded upon and our U.S. Constitution? Can you visualize urging your congregation not to support or vote for any movement that was pro-abortion, pro-homosexual and anti-family? What do you think would happen? Without marching or demonstrating, you can fire a shot across the bow of the ship of sin that would shake the foundations of this nation. Also, the churches would be filled because people will flock to Shepherds who feed their hunger for truth and righteousness. We all want Shepherds to lead us and return to the Biblical standards this nation was founded upon.
I Peter 4:17: “For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God…” Our nation is being judged by God not for the unbeliever or sinner but for the believer and the church of Jesus Christ. Now is the time for repentance!
When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice. The sheep are perishing for lack of direction of knowledge and wisdom in the political arena. Silence does mean consent!
