PEOPLE’S MIND – PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir promised that the 2023-2024 League 1 season would run much better than previous seasons. Yesterday, Wednesday, May 10 2023 in Labuan Bajo, NTT, he handed over the schedule for next season’s League 1 to the National Police Chief to ensure that the highest level of soccer competition would take place.
Erick said that there would not be any obstacles such as police match permits which had occurred in previous seasons. According to him, everything was completed long ago so that the competition would run more regularly.
“There will be no more problems being held without spectators so that it can provide comfort and safety for spectators, sponsors, and broadcasting rights holders. I handed over today’s League 1 schedule to the National Police Chief so that in the future he will coordinate with the police in matters of licensing, security arrangements, etc. anything else related can run even more smoothly,” he said as quoted from the PSSI press release.
Erick said that the schedule he submitted had been coordinated with PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB) as the competition operator. He also hopes that all parties will adhere to this commitment for the smooth running of the national football competition.
In accordance with the initial commitment, Erick asked LIB to submit the next season’s League 1 competition schedule no earlier than three months before the competition starts. The plan is for the 2023-2024 competition to be rolled out in July 2023.
“This has been discussed some time ago with LIB including a request from President Jokowi. We are trying to tidy up the system, because if the system is not tidy, then don’t blame the police if a permit is not issued. This is the result of my agreement with the Chief of Police, and the President I have requested that all permits must be issued three months before the match,” he said. ***
