Growth funds
There are a range of growth investment funds available, but it is important to understand their aims and the level of risk associated with each fund.
Low-risk funds tend to be called cautious managed funds and managed balance funds. Often the funds will have a high content of fixed-interest securities in them, such as gilts.
For medium risk, consider more equity-based funds such as UK and European funds, UK tracker funds and UK and global growth funds.
And look at Japanese funds, global emerging markets funds and specialist funds such as those which invest in the technology sector for higher risk investments. However, bear in mind that the risks on these funds can be enormous.
