Birth Choice of San Marcos will offer a two-day healing retreat for women suffering from post-abortion trauma on March 6-7. Dr. Heather Mechanic and Barbara Olsen, both M.F.C.C.s and professing Christians, will conduct the retreat as they do every year.
Grace Denny, director of the Birth Choice pregnancy center, said that, “…women who choose to abort a child [often] grieve for their babies…Grief can be expressed through eating disorders, promiscuity, depression and nightmares, just to name a few.” She further explained that symptoms may not develop for 10 or 15 years and usually surface when another stressful event triggers “memories and feelings from their abortions.”
