Global readymade clothing brand Grameen Uniqlo is doing business from Bangladesh. In addition to closing their 10 sales centers by June 18, the company has also announced the closure of business operations.
Uniqlo Social Business Bangladesh Limited has given such information in a statement on Grameen Uniqlo’s website today. It said, ‘We regret to inform you that we will be closing 10 Grameen Uniqlo stores (outlets) by June 18, 2023 and Grameen Uniqlo’s business operations will also cease.’
In the statement, the company further said, ‘Given the significant economic development and business changes in Bangladesh in recent years, we feel that we have succeeded in achieving a specific objective of our business. In this context we have decided to stop our business operations.’
The Japanese retail company established Uniqlo Social Business Bangladesh Limited in 2010 in partnership with Grameen Bank Group. Then in 2013, Grameen Uniqlo initially opened a sales center in the capital Dhaka. Then Grameen Uniqlo started increasing sales centers gradually.
Grameen Uniqlo’s consolidation process in Bangladesh became visible early this year. The company closed four sales centers together last February. They are Nayapaltan, Savar City Centre, Khilgaon Taltala and New Elephant Road.
At present, Grameen Uniqlo has sales points in Bashundhara Shopping City, Jamuna Future Park, Gulshan-Bada Link Road, Bangabandhu Road in Narayanganj, Science Lab, Narsingdi, Wari in Old Dhaka, Mohammadpur Ring Road, Metro Shopping Mall, Jatrabari and Mirpur 12 areas.
