Cyclone ‘Mokha’ may change direction

The deep depression over Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas is likely to change direction and gradually move north-northeast till tomorrow Friday morning. On the other hand, the low pressure moved north-northwestward and became a cyclonic storm over the same area (11.2 degree latitude and 88.0 degree east longitude) on Thursday morning.

Meanwhile, the weather forecast for the next 24 hours from 9 am on Thursday said that two places in Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions may temporarily experience gusty or windy rain or rain with thunder. Apart from this, the weather over the country is likely to remain mainly dry with partly cloudy skies elsewhere in the country.

Apart from this, severe heat wave over Rajshahi, Pabna, Bogra, Dinajpur, Nilphamari and Chuadanga districts and mild to moderate heat wave over other parts of the country may continue. On the other hand, day and night temperatures may remain almost unchanged across the country.

The weather forecast for the next 72 hours says that the temperature may drop. Towards the end of this period there may be rain or thundershowers. On Thursday, wind may blow from the west or south-west direction at a speed of 8 to 10 km per hour. The relative humidity of the air in Dhaka was 82 percent in the morning.
