Undeniably one of the superstars of the contemporary Christian music scene, Carman brings his act to the Del Mar Fair as part of this summer’s Grandstand Concert line-up on June 19. The concert is free with fair admission.
A limited number of reserved seats are on sale for $10 from all Ticketmaster outlets, by calling Ticketmaster at (619) 220-TIXS, or in person at the Del Mar Fairgrounds box office Tues.-Sat. 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
Carman’s current RIOT tour, which stands for Righteous Invasion Of Truth, is a bold entry into the forays of beat-heavy jams and Latin rap rhythms.
RIOT is also the title of Carman’s most recent album and it follows Christian chart-toppers “The Standard,” “Addicted to Jesus,” “Revival in the Land” and “The Champion” just to name a few. These albums feature Carman’s specialized type of righteous rhythm and blues and heartfelt ballads, some of which have been propelled to number one on Billboard’s charts (including being named “Contemporary Christian Artist of the Year” two times) and receiving gold and platinum album certifications and a handful of other awards.
Carman is no stranger to touring nor to playing to large crowds. His 1994 “Raising the Standard” tour drew a total attendance of 1.1 million people, including 71,132 concert-goers in Dallas’ Texas Stadium, marking the highest-attended Christian concert in history. More than 50,000 people participated in Carman’s “Music For peace” crusade at Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa, making it the largest ticketed solo Christian concert in history.
Admission to the Del Mar Fair is $8 for adults, $3 for children (ages six to 12), and $5 for seniors. For more information, phone the 24-hour information line at (619) 793-5555, for TTY call (619) 792-4492.
