In January 1997, Dr. Jeffrey D. Johnson became the senior pastor of First Baptist Church of Vista. The church, also known as Tri-City Church, has an attendance of approximately 650 and is home of Tri-City Christian School, a fully accredited elementary and high school.
Before becoming senior pastor, Dr. Johnson was executive director of an international Jewish mission. He was also a pastor in Ohio and Massachusetts. While in Massachusetts he studied basic Judaism, Hebrew and periodically attended L’Abri.
Dr. Johnson brings to First Baptist a firm conviction of historic Christianity and a belief that the local church is God’s vehicle for world evangelism. For more information call 724-3000.
Grace Baptist of Fletcher Hills has called the Rev. Clifford D. Olson as senior pastor. He began his pulpit ministry on March 16.
Rev. Olson has most recently been the associate pastor of music, worship and youth at Ballard Baptist Church in Seattle. His prior ministries include associate pastor at Glisan Street Baptist Church in Portland and college ministries pastor at First Baptist Church of Reseda, Calif.
The Rev. John H. Redman, pastor of Mapleview Baptist Church in Lakeside, preached his last sermon at the church on Feb. 23. He has accepted a call to serve as executive director for the Conservative Baptist Assn. of Southern California, assisting pastors and congregations of the association’s 128 churches.
Genesis Covenant Church in Oceanside celebrated its 10th anniversary with a conference, “Living in Apostolic Times,” on March 19-23.
