Dhaka: The intensity of the heatwave over the country has decreased. A mild heatwave has descended from severe, which may subside further.
Because there is a hint of rain in all sections.
The Meteorological Office has given such a forecast on Thursday (May 11) night.
Meteorologist Dr. Muhammad Abul Kalam Mallick said that Cyclone ‘Mokha’, which is located in Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas, has moved further northwards as a strong cyclone and is staying in the same area at 6 pm (12.1 degrees North Latitude and 87.9 degrees East Longitude). It may intensify further and move north-northwest till next Friday (May 12) morning and then change direction gradually to north-northeast.
Rain/thundershower with gusty winds may occur temporarily at one or two places in Rajshahi, Rangpur, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions till Friday evening.
Mild to moderate heat wave is prevailing over Dhaka, Rangpur, Khulna and Barisal divisions including Rajshahi, Pabna, Sirajganj, Srimangal, Sandwip, Rangamati, Comilla, Chandpur, Noakhali and Hatia regions and may continue.
Day and night temperatures may remain almost unchanged across the country. Dhaka will have maximum wind speed of 8 to 12 km per hour from south/south-west direction.
The temperature may decrease in the next two days. Rain/thundershowers may increase during extended five days.
The highest temperature in the country was recorded at Rangamati on Thursday at 38.7 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature recorded at Tentulia was 20.3 degrees Celsius. The maximum rainfall was 53 mm in Mymensingh. The maximum and minimum temperature recorded in Dhaka was 38.4 degrees Celsius and 27.4 degrees Celsius respectively.
