Morality in Media’s seventh annual “Turn Off TV Day” has been scheduled for Saturday, February 14 – Valentine’s Day – and this year will target broadcast TV executives with the message: “We want better television, not labels on garbage.”
Morality in Media President Robert W. Peters explained, “The large majority of Americans agree that something is desperately wrong with broadcast TV programming. This has been borne out again and again in national opinion polls. But what comes out of Hollywood’s TV studios? Constant promiscuity and promotions of homosexuality on prime time sitcoms. Blood, mayhem, and foul language on ‘Brooklyn South.’ Adultery as just another plot device. The American people understand that TV garbage with self-serving ratings labels still stinks to high heaven.”
