    Advertiser Information

GOOD NEWS, ETC. is a free monthly tabloid newspaper serving San Diego County since 1984. The page size is usually 24 or 28 pages, with a full-color cover and approx. 40% advertising each month.

Advertisers can choose both our editions with the full circulation of 40,000 copies a month, or select just the North County edition or just the San Diego edition — each with a circulation of 20,000 copies. The two geographic zones are divided as follows:

NORTH COUNTY — Del Mar, Solana Beach, Cardiff, Encinitas, Leucadia, Carlsbad, Oceanside, Camp Pendleton, Vista, San Marcos, Fallbrook, Escondido, Valley Center, Poway, Rancho Bernardo, Penasquitos, Mira Mesa, Ramona and Temecula in Rivrside County. (Points north of Miramar Road.)

SAN DIEGO — The area from La Jolla to Imperial Beach, and from the Beach Cities  to El Cajon – and points between.

Many advertisers elect to concentrate their advertising budget to a readership closer to their geographical area and can save money by advertising in one zone. For others who desire to reach the entire county, there is a substantial discount in the “cost per thousand” as the second zone is available for only 50% additional.

    Offering Our Readers . . .

    • Current local news of interest to Christians, prepared by Christian writers/journalists and presented in an easy-to-read format.

    • National and world news provided by the Evangelical Press News Service.

    • “THE CALENDAR” — a listing of Christian events in San Diego County for the month. The most complete listing of its type.

    • Outstanding columnists: Sherwood Wirt, Dr. James Dobson, George Elias, Al Menconi, Beverly Wyer, Phil Wyman, Pam & Bill Farrel, and others.

    • Prominently displayed “sections” or pages for Missions, Pro-Life, Education, Politics, Family, Evangelism, etc.

    • Free Classified Ads of 10 words or less for private parties. Professional and church directories are also available.

    • A web page with late-breaking news and calendar items (http://www.goodnewsetc.com/).

    • Experience: Good News, Etc. began publishing in 1984 with 10,000 copies a month. Nearly 6 million copies have been printed in the last 12 years.

    • Recognition: Good News, Etc. was recognized in 1994 as one of the top 4 Christian newspapers in the U.S. by the Evangelical Press Association.

    Offering Our Advertisers . . .

    • Target advertising: The best way to reach the Christian community in San Diego. Good News, Etc. is a trusted resource that people save for its news, information and advertisements.

    • A way to reach the Christian audience which looks forward to receiving this quality newspaper each month. Ads in Good News, Etc. have exposure for a whole month — not just a day or week.

    • The choice of advertising in North County (20,000 copies) or the greater San Diego area (20,000 copies). And for the advertiser who needs exposure throughout the county, it costs only 50% more than advertising in one zone, but doubles your circulation.

    • A newspaper format that assures the advertiser their ad won’t be lost in pages and pages of other advertising. An ad can usually be positioned where it will do the most good for the individual advertiser. (A concert would do better in the Calendar section, for example, or a marriage retreat on one of the Family pages.)

    • Generous discounts for frequent advertising in the paper (15% off for a 3-month run, 20% off for a 6-month run and 25% off for a 12-month run).

    • For no additional charge we will help design an ad that will maximize your advertising investment.

    • A web page (http://www.goodnewsetc.com/) that includes free Calendar listings, late breaking news, and links to other Christian web sites.

    Where Do the Papers Go?

Distribution of Good News, Etc. is usually the last Saturday of the month. The papers are free to the churches, businesses and others who want copies each month. In addition, approximately 600 papers are mailed each month to subscribers, advertisers and others.

Of the 40,000 copies printed each month, half the papers go directly into some 520 churches. The remaining copies:

    • 1,500 are distributed at 29 Christian schools.
    • 2,400 are distributed at 52 public facilities such as libraries and government buildings.
    • 9,500 are distributed at 321 restaurants, donut shops & other businesses.
    • 2,700 are distributed at 39 Christian bookstores.
    • 3,200 are distributed at 46 ministry offices.

    Who Reads the Paper?

According to a reader survey completed in October 1994, the average reader of the newspaper is 42 years old and has 2.4 children. Females responded more (67%), but married couples represented 68% of the readership. The respondents attend church often (83% “all the time” and 12% “most of the time”). Most people (64%) pick up their copy of Good News, Etc. at their church, with 12% finding the paper in their bookstore and 25% at other locations.
